The deadline for anyone interested in enrolling with a discount on the 10th Latin-American Free Software Conference (Latinoware) is on August 2. Registration, currently costing R$ 70, will move to R$ 90 for the period between August 3rd and September 22nd; and to R$ 110 from September 23rd and October 4th. Registration applications can be submitted via link http://lapsi.latinoware.org.

The conference, which already has more than 750 participants, will take place between October 16 and 18, at Itaipu Technological Park (PTI). 4.6 thousand participants are expected, a number similar to the one for the 2012 edition.

Groups coming in caravans have already registered. They are coming from the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, Espírito Santo and Rio Grande do Sul, as well as from Uruguay and Paraguay.

One of Latin America’s most important free software events, Latinoware is an opportunity for researchers and students to increase their knowledge about free development tools and exchange experiences, points of view and opinions about innovative open code projects.

The event is promoted by Itaipu Binacional, Itaipu Technological Park, the State of Paraná Data Processing Agency (Companhia de Informática do Paraná – Celepar) and the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), with support from Caixa Econômica Federal.

Last year, Latinoware 2012 brought together participants from every Brazilian state. Paraná was the state with the largest contingent – 1642 – followed by Rio Grande do Sul, with 335 participants; Minas Gerais, with 319; Santa Catarina, with 233; and the Distrito Federal, with 214 participants.

From other countries, there were 525 participants, with emphasis on Paraguay – 444. But there were sizable representations also from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Italy, Nigeria, Peru, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, the United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.
